Mikel Erentxun is a singer, musician, and songwriter from Donostia / San Sebastián. In this Basque city, located a few kilometers from the French border, Mikel began one of the most celebrated pop-rock careers in Spain. He first made a name for himself as the lead vocalist of Duncan Dhu, the iconic Spanish rock band formed in the mid-80s (and whose 40th anniversary he is currently celebrating with a world tour). After recording five successful albums with Duncan Dhu, performing hundreds of concerts, and receiving multiple award nominations (including a Grammy nomination), Mikel decided to launch his solo career.
In 1992, Mikel released Naufragios, one of his most notable albums, which was followed by El abrazo del erizo (1995), Acróbatas (1997), Siete años (US release in 1997), and Te dejas ver (2000). During this period, he also performed with Duncan Dhu and played a fundamental role in their albums Piedras (1994) and Crepúsculo (2001), as well as the acclaimed live record Teatro Victoria Eugenia (1995).
While Duncan Dhu took a break, Mikel Erentxun continued with his solo project, releasing the album Ciudades de Paso in 2003. This work was followed by Éxitos in 2004, and in 2006 he released El corredor de la suerte, as well as a live album recorded at the Victoria Eugenia Theater, now under the name Mikel Erentxun, titled Tres noches en el Victoria Eugenia.
After returning to Duncan Dhu in 2013 for the release of El duelo and 1, Mikel began a successful trilogy of solo albums. Thanks to his collaboration with the talented Spanish producer Paco Loco, Mikel began to tap into his creativity even further, composing, playing, and writing the lyrics to all his songs for the first time. He released Corazones in 2015 and El hombre sin sombra in 2017, both of which were nominated for a Latin Grammy in the Best Rock Album category. Mikel closed this trilogy in 2019 with El último vuelo del hombre bala. Mikel Erentxun’s compilation album, Amigos de Guardia, was released in 2021 and features the participation of various artists covering his hits, including Bunbury, Coque Malla, Zahara, Leiva, Andrés Calamaro, Amaia, Santi Balmes, Víctor Cabezuelo, Miren Iza, Anni B Sweet, Eva Amaral, and Quique González.
In 2023, he released his solo album: Septiembre. For the first time, Mikel took a turn and composed his songs with a different approach, creating them on the piano. A year later, and after several Christmases surprising us with unreleased carols, this year he decided to take a big leap and record a full-length album of original Christmas-themed songs.
Erentxun is always working on new projects and offers concerts in different formats to adapt to changing times. He continuously reinvents himself and maintains a great connection with his loyal fans. Throughout 2025 and 2026, he is touring a large part of the world with his 40th anniversary Duncan Dhu tour.
