Rulo
Raúl Gutiérrez, better known as RULO, is the renowned singer-songwriter from Cantabria (Reinosa) and founder of Rulo y la Contrabanda, a rock band created by the artist in 2010. In 1996, alongside his bandmate Adolfo Garmendia (Fito), he fronted the band La Fuga, performing over 500 concerts across Spain and in several countries worldwide. In 2010, Rulo created his most personal solo project with “Rulo y la Contrabanda,” through which he has recorded 8 studio albums to date. His first album, Señales de humo, reached the top spot on the sales charts with songs like “Cabecita loca” and “Heridas del Rock’nRoll.” To compose one of his most celebrated records, Basado en Hechos Reales, he traveled to California to work under multi-award-winning producer Thom Russo (Eric Clapton, Johnny Cash). His latest release, Una noche en el botánico, is a special live album recorded during the “Noches del Botánico” concert series. In 2024/2025, Rulo presents his theater tour titled “Cercanías y medias distancias.” It is a show in which music takes center stage, punctuated by theatrical elements and set against a meticulously designed backdrop recreating an old train station—all crafted to give his songs a special touch.
